Arsenal are reportedly lining up a €60 million move for Real Madrid attacker Brahim Díaz as they look to bolster their attacking options in the January transfer window, according to reports in Spain. The 27-year-old, who has found opportunities limited at the Santiago Bernabéu under head coach José Mourinho, has emerged as a potential target for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Díaz has recorded 198 minutes across five official appearances for the Spanish giants during the 2026-27 season. Reports from Fichajes, corroborated by CaughtOffside, suggest that Real Madrid may be open to sanctioning a departure for the Morocco international to generate funds for midfield reinforcements, with preliminary discussions between the two clubs suggested for December. The forward's versatility, capable of operating as an attacking midfielder or on the left wing, is viewed by Arsenal as a solution to address tactical depth and competition in the final third.
Grimandi Cools Kvaratskhelia Speculation
While Díaz is being identified as a target, Arsenal have also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. However, former Arsenal player Gilles Grimandi has publicly dampened suggestions that such a transfer is likely to materialise. Speaking to Goal, Grimandi highlighted the substantial financial and strategic hurdles that would complicate a move for the Georgian international.
"I don't think they will do it," Grimandi stated. "Now it's complicated when the guy plays in Paris because they have a huge salary and they do not need any money so it's quite complicated to pick up one of the best players and bring him to another team except if there is a problem."
Grimandi, who made 169 appearances for Arsenal, further explained that PSG view Kvaratskhelia as an essential asset for the latter stages of European competition. "Barcola was not supposed to be in the starting line-up this season so they let the door open if he wants to leave. But Kvaratskhelia, they don't let him go because they know that in the spring time he will be one of the more important players."
Squad Context and Left-Flank Options
Arsenal's focus on attacking reinforcements arrives amid existing personnel challenges. The side has been navigating the early season with Christos Tzolis sidelined due to a muscle injury, forcing tactical adjustments on the left flank. Eberechi Eze, who moved to the Emirates last summer for €69.3 million, has struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter, leading to questions over the balance of Arteta's attacking rotations. With the club possessing deep midfield options such as Declan Rice, Bruno Guimarães, and Martin Zubimendi, any incoming arrival in January is expected to be targeted at increasing output in wide or advanced areas rather than central midfield.
The club's management faces the challenge of balancing this interest with long-term squad health, particularly as they prepare for the resumption of Champions League fixtures. While the potential €60 million outlay for Díaz reflects the club's ambition, any formal approach remains subject to Real Madrid’s willingness to negotiate during the winter market window.
