Endrick has confirmed he is open to a January departure from Real Madrid if his playing opportunities do not improve, despite receiving public assurances from manager José Mourinho regarding his future at the Santiago Bernabéu. The 20-year-old Brazilian forward, who scored a decisive goal in Real Madrid’s 4-3 Champions League victory over Roma on Wednesday, addressed the persistent speculation about his future while maintaining he remains focused on the club’s objectives.
Mourinho’s Veto and Squad Philosophy
José Mourinho has been steadfast in his opposition to any winter exit for the young striker. Speaking to TNT Sports following the victory in Rome, the manager explicitly dismissed the possibility of a transfer, noting that interested parties should not expect a favourable outcome. “Forget it, forget it. Forget any interested clubs,” Mourinho stated. “They had better sit down, otherwise they will get tired waiting. Anyone interested in him will have a serious fight on their hands with me, because I believe he doesn't need to go out on loan and will achieve tremendous success here.”
This firm public stance aligns with Real Madrid’s internal strategy for the 2026-27 season. Reports, including analysis from Trivela, suggest the club is keen to maintain three recognised centre-forward options in the squad. The departure of Gonzalo García in the summer, coupled with the arrival of Carlos Espi, created a specific hierarchy that the club is reluctant to disrupt. Mourinho has reportedly been utilizing Endrick with greater tactical flexibility, often deploying him in wider areas, which the coaching staff believes adds value to the current squad structure.
Market Interest and Future Uncertainty
Despite Real Madrid's determination to retain the player, significant interest has been expressed by several clubs. Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his YouTube channel that Liverpool, AC Milan, Roma, and Aston Villa explored the possibility of signing the forward during the summer transfer window. Those inquiries were rebuffed as Madrid, backed by President Florentino Pérez, refused to sanction a permanent or temporary exit for a player signed from Palmeiras for €47.5 million in 2024. Endrick remains under contract with the Spanish giants until June 2030, giving the club significant leverage in negotiations.
Addressing the ambiguity regarding his immediate future, Endrick told Movistar+ following the Roma match: "I take it day by day. If I have to leave in January, I'll leave; if I have to stay, I'll stay. I will do whatever God puts in my heart." The striker’s current situation is delicate; he had previously spent a productive period on loan at Olympique Lyonnais during the first half of 2026, scoring eight goals in 21 appearances. While Madrid officials have signaled a desire for him to continue his development at the Bernabéu, the final decision regarding a January loan may ultimately depend on his involvement in Mourinho’s matchday squads throughout November and December.
