According to reports from TEAMtalk and Liverpool.com, the Anfield club have requested that Camara and Monaco delay making any long-term decisions about his future. Journalist Ben Jacobs outlined the current stance, noting that while Liverpool are not pursuing an immediate deal, they have instructed Camara's camp to "wait" ahead of a potential 2027 approach. Jacobs stated that Liverpool did not explore a move this summer as Alexis Mac Allister remains established in the squad. This strategic patience follows Monaco's late decision to halt a £47 million transfer to Chelsea, a deal Sky Sports reported was agreed as an Enzo Fernández replacement before the French club withdrew. With Liverpool's midfield squad currently stable, any concrete movement is unlikely until at least 2027.
Carvajal links remain speculative punditry
Separately, reports linking former Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal to Anfield remain highly speculative. The 34-year-old defender became a free agent when his contract with Real Madrid expired on 1 July 2026. However, the connection to Liverpool stems entirely from pundit speculation rather than active negotiations. Speaking on a recent broadcast, pundit Joleon Lescott mooted Liverpool as a logical destination for the veteran, saying, "I think there’s talk of Liverpool – Carvajal – right-back.
