Transfer Rumours

Rafaela Pimenta Denies Gilberto Mora Transfer Agreement Following 18Th Birthday

Agent Rafaela Pimenta has rejected speculation of a completed transfer for Tijuana midfielder Gilberto Mora, confirming no agreements exist as the player turns 18.

Superagent Rafaela Pimenta has publicly refuted reports that Club Tijuana midfielder Gilberto Mora has agreed to a transfer to a European club. Addressing speculation that intensified as the player celebrated his 18th birthday on October 14, 2026, Pimenta told TNT Sports Mexico that no deal has been finalised and emphasised that the primary focus remains on the player's development. While Mora has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool and other elite European sides, Pimenta described the current volume of reports as an unnecessary pressure on a teenager who only recently attained the legal age to facilitate an international transfer.

Regulatory Status and Market Reality

The player's 18th birthday officially removed the FIFA regulatory restriction that had previously prevented an international transfer. However, Pimenta was clear in her assessment of the market timeline. She noted that with the current FIFA transfer window closed, no international move can be processed until January 2027. She explicitly denied the existence of any pre-signed contract, stating, “We know that the FIFA transfer window is closed, so there are no transfers until January, and then again until June.” Her comments serve as a direct clarification that, while the legal framework for a move is now open, no transition has been formalised.

Conflicting Valuations and Speculation

The reports surrounding Mora have been characterised by a lack of consistent information regarding his market value. While reports in Spain have previously indicated a release clause in the region of €25 million, other claims have suggested that clubs—with Liverpool frequently cited as a primary suitor—are preparing offers in the range of €40 million to €50 million. Neither Club Tijuana nor Pimenta’s office has confirmed these figures. The situation remains in the sphere of unverified speculation, with no official bid or contract agreement corroborated by the parties involved.

Player Development Priorities

Despite the external noise, Pimenta stressed the importance of managing the teenager's progression carefully. Mora has already made 62 first-team appearances for Club Tijuana and became the youngest player to feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a level of exposure that has drawn sustained attention from major European teams, including Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain. Addressing the media pressure, Pimenta stated, “There are so many rumours that it seems like you want to ruin this young player, someone who is growing and needs his space, his time and doesn't need pressure.” The immediate outlook remains focused on his domestic commitments in Mexico, with the opening of the January 2027 transfer window representing the next point at which potential negotiations can legally progress.
