Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a €12 million transfer for Jackson Tchatchoua from Hellas Verona. The Serie A club has accepted the bid and the Cameroon international has agreed personal terms, setting the stage for the move to be completed later this week.
Tchatchoua Poised To Join Wolves After Agreeing Terms
The 23-year-old, who turns 24 next month, arrived at Verona on loan from Charleroi in 2023 before making the move permanent in 2024 for around €3 million. Across the 2024-25 Serie A season he made 36 appearances, scoring two goals and adding three assists, showing his attacking and defensive versatility.
Wolves Eye Solid Premier League Ready Option
Wolves are in need of a dynamic right-sided player to fill the void left by outgoing Nelson Semedo. Tchatchoua’s ability to play as both a full-back and wing-back gives head coach a flexible option to adjust formations without burning through substitutions. With his blend of energy and positional adaptability he will likely slot straight into the starting lineup once the deal is finalised.
Other Clubs Watched But Wolves Took The Lead
A number of clubs had reportedly shown interest in Tchatchoua this summer, including Nottingham Forest, Galatasaray and Olympique Marseille, while Serie A giants like Milan, Inter and Napoli were linked as well. But in the end it was Wolves who came in with the right offer at the right time, convincing Verona to let one of their brightest young defenders depart.
Medical Booked As Transfer Nears Completion
With the €12 million offer accepted and personal terms agreed, Tchatchoua is expected to fly to England to undergo his medical. If all goes smoothly Wolves could announce the signing as early as Friday, getting the deal wrapped up ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.
The move marks a smart piece of business for Wolves, bringing in a young, hungry defender with Serie A experience for a relatively modest fee in today’s market. Tchatchoua fills a clear need on the right flank and gives the club greater tactical flexibility as they head into the new season with ambition.
