Arsenal are monitoring Ajax winger Mika Godts as a potential summer acquisition to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s attacking options on the left flank. According to Fabrizio Romano, initial approaches have already taken place for the 20-year-old Belgian, who is expected to leave Amsterdam in the summer of 2026. While Ajax reportedly value the attacker at approximately €32 million (£27 million), a growing list of suitors including Chelsea and Manchester United could see that figure rise significantly. Godts has enjoyed a breakout campaign in the Eredivisie, registering 16 goals and 13 assists across all competitions to date.
Godts responds to Premier League interest
The Belgian international recently addressed the speculation surrounding his future following Ajax’s 2-0 victory over NAC Breda, a match in which Arsenal scouts reportedly watched him score a solo goal. Speaking to ESPN after winning the Eredivisie Talent of the Month award for April, Godts remained diplomatic regarding a move. "I’ve heard about it, but fortunately, this is not decided in a TV studio," Godts said. "The people within the club and at other clubs decide that. I hope to experience a great World Cup first, and then I’ll just come back here to hit the ground running next season." Despite the player's cautious public stance, his agent, Niels De Jonck, told Sport Witness that interest from a club of Arsenal's stature is unsurprising and suggested Godts is positioned to be the club's next major export.
Tactical fit and Arsenal’s squad depth
Arsenal’s pursuit of Godts aligns with a strategic need to refresh their left-sided Mirroring the 2023 recruitment of Jurrien Timber, the move signals a continued reliance on the Ajax pipeline for technical profiles. Current options Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have faced increased scrutiny during recent domestic stumbles, and both players are approaching the final 12 months of their primary contracts. Godts offers a distinct profile as a high-volume 1-v-1 dribbler, capable of providing the verticality that has occasionally gone missing from the Arsenal attack this term. Having joined Ajax from Genk for just €1 million in January 2023, the winger’s exponential rise in valuation reflects his status as one of the most productive young attackers outside of Europe’s top five leagues.
Scouts from several elite clubs are expected to be in attendance when Ajax face PSV Eindhoven on May 2nd to further assess the winger's suitability for a high-intensity system.
