Bayern Munich Rule Out Michael Olise Sale As Liverpool Search For Salah Successor

Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insists Michael Olise is not for sale at any price as Liverpool search for a Mohamed Salah replacement.

Bayern Munich have issued a firm hands-off warning to Liverpool regarding Michael Olise, with supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stating the club would resist even a world-record offer for the 24-year-old winger. As Mohamed Salah prepares to depart Anfield at the end of the 2025/26 season, Liverpool have identified the former Crystal Palace attacker as a primary target, but Bayern officials have moved to dismiss any possibility of a deal. Olise, who joined the German giants for £51 million in July 2024, is under contract until June 2029 and is currently the most productive wide player in European football.

Bayern Munich stance on Olise valuation and contract

The hierarchy at the Allianz Arena has moved swiftly to shut down speculation following Michael Olise's historic 2025/26 campaign. Speaking to Empire of the Kop, Rummenigge insisted there is "no price tag" that would tempt the club to sell. This resolve is bolstered by the lack of a release clause in the player's five-year deal, a fact explicitly confirmed by Bayern’s Board Member for Sport, Max Eberl. According to reports from Bulinews, Eberl described Olise as being on a trajectory to become one of the world's best, reinforcing that Bayern have no financial or sporting incentive to negotiate. This firm position complicates Liverpool's recruitment strategy, especially as the Bundesliga side carries no immediate pressure to sell under FFP regulations following several deep Champions League runs.

The tactical void left by Mohamed Salah

Liverpool’s pursuit is driven by necessity following Salah's March 2026 announcement that he will leave the club this summer. Olise has emerged as the most statistically viable replacement, having recorded 20 goals and 29 assists in 47 appearances this season—becoming the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to achieve a "20-20" season. Speaking on the TalkSport network, former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant urged the club to sign Olise "at all costs," even suggesting a player-plus-cash deal involving Cody Gakpo. Historically, Liverpool have shown a willingness to spend heavily to secure specific tactical fits, notably the £125 million signing of Alexander Isak in 2025. However, replacing Salah's output requires a left-footed inverted winger capable of maintaining elite volume, a profile Olise has mastered during his time in Munich and his previous 82 appearances for Crystal Palace.

Despite the mounting pressure from Anfield, Bayern's refusal to even set a valuation suggest Liverpool must pivot to alternative targets as the summer window approaches.
