Liverpool have finalised an agreement to sign Colombian midfielder Samuel Martinez from Atletico Nacional for a fee of around £750,000 ($1 million). The 17-year-old has committed to a five-year contract with the Premier League club but will not officially complete his move until he turns 18 in April 2027, arriving at Anfield ahead of the 2027–28 season. As part of the agreement, the Colombian side will retain a sell-on percentage of any future transfer fee.

His mother, Victoria Valencia, described the intense recruitment process, explaining that the family "spent almost a month and a half without sleep" dealing with calls from 30 different teams. Ultimately, his parents confirmed the final choice rested with the player, stating "he felt a connection to go to Liverpool."
