Negotiations and Current Valuation
Tottenham forward Richarlison has reached an agreement on personal terms with Turkish side Trabzonspor as the club weighs up their options before the Süper Lig window closes on September 4, 2026. Despite the player's readiness to complete a move, a significant disparity remains regarding the valuation of the 29-year-old. According to reports in Football.london, Tottenham have already rejected two offers from the Turkish club, understood to be worth £15 million and £20 million respectively.
The situation follows a turbulent summer for the Brazilian, which included a failed deadline-day return to Everton. Speaking on his player's future, Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi stated: "Richarlison, he's said too many times he wants to leave." While the forward has publicly struck a defiant tone regarding recent pressure, stating, "Pressure, threats, retaliations, none of this scares me. I've been through worse things," the club now finds itself in a precarious position regarding his future with the Turkish window offering a final exit path.
Squad Planning and Financial Context
Offloading Richarlison carries tactical and structural weight for Tottenham. The club is currently managing a squad capacity issue, sitting with 18 senior non-homegrown players—one over the Premier League's registration limit. A sale would alleviate this bottleneck, though the financial reality of the deal is stark compared to the 2022 acquisition, which saw the forward arrive in a package potentially worth up to £60 million. With Richarlison entering the final year of his contract—which includes an option for an additional season—Tottenham face a narrow window to recoup a significant portion of that investment.
Trabzonspor, having recently secured the high-profile signing of Mohamed Salah, are clearly aiming to bolster their attacking options with Premier League experience. However, unless they significantly increase their financial commitment to meet Tottenham's internal valuation, the prospect of a permanent move before the September deadline remains uncertain.
