Tottenham Hotspur are working with intermediaries to find a new club for Richarlison after his proposed move to Turkish side Trabzonspor collapsed. Despite the player agreeing personal terms, Tottenham rejected bids of £15 million and £20 million for the 27-year-old forward, holding out for a fee closer to their £30 million valuation.
As first reported by Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian agreed to terms on a lucrative contract in Turkey and was even contacted by international colleagues Mohamed Salah and Fabinho to encourage the move. However, with the Turkish transfer window closing and Tottenham refusing to budge on their valuation, the transfer has broken down, leaving the forward exiled from the first-team setup.
De Zerbi confirms Richarlison squad exclusion
Richarlison has been omitted from Tottenham's 25-man Premier League squad for the current campaign and is currently training separately with the under-21 squad. Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed the striker’s desire to leave, stating that the player declined a contract extension on his current deal, which has one year remaining plus a club option for an additional 12 months.
Speaking to the media, De Zerbi said: “I think Richarlison, he decided everything alone. He spoke with me at the beginning of the pre-season and told me his idea and desire was to leave. He didn’t want to extend. So, we have to go to another page and work with Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush.”
Alternative transfer options emerge for forward
With the Turkish route closed, reports in England suggest that representatives are exploring alternative destinations in the Saudi Pro League, Brazil, and Portugal. The financial muscle of the Saudi league represents a viable option to match his wage demands, whilst a return to Brazil or a move to Portugal remain potential fallback options to resurrect his career.
If Tottenham and Richarlison’s representatives cannot find a buyer prepared to meet the club's financial expectations, the forward faces the prospect of remaining on the sidelines without senior football until the transfer window reopens in January.
