Premier League Interest In Sporting CP Winger Geny Catamo Persists Ahead Of January

Sporting CP winger Geny Catamo continues to attract interest from multiple Premier League clubs, including Sunderland and Newcastle United, ahead of the January window.

Sporting CP winger Geny Catamo has emerged as a target for multiple Premier League clubs ahead of the January transfer window. According to reports, clubs including Sunderland and Newcastle United are monitoring the 25-year-old Mozambique international, whose performances in the early stages of the 2026/27 campaign have sustained interest following the summer window.

Sunderland, who pursued the winger extensively during the summer, have maintained their interest after failing to reach an agreement with Sporting CP. Reports indicate that past proposals, including offers involving performance-related add-ons, were rejected by the Portuguese side. Sporting CP are understood to hold a firm stance regarding the player’s valuation, with sources citing a €60 million release clause.

Catamo has registered two goals and three assists in his opening appearances for Sporting this season. Beyond Sunderland and Newcastle United, other clubs, including Nottingham Forest, Brentford, and Brighton & Hove Albion, have been linked with monitoring the player’s progress. While Tottenham Hotspur previously scouted the winger, reports suggest they are not currently prioritising a move for his position. The player remains under contract at Sporting until 2029.
